AJ Brimson
The 21-year-old had a major hand in his side’s heavy defeat of the Cowboys over the weekend – coming away with 2 tries, 1 try assist, and an eye catching 74 NRL Fantasy points.
Looking back on last season, Brimson’s campaign proved frustrating for the young prospect – as he failed to lock down a regular starting role behind the likes of Gordon and Roberts.
These limited minutes saw his value plummet $266k by season’s end – which was the 11th biggest drop across the competition.
Through injuries and rotation, Brimson did play the full 80 minutes at Fullback on 8 occasions 2019. Across these games, Brimson managed an average of over 170 run metres, 4 tackle busts and 43 Fantasy points per game.
If he is able to replicate this form for the run-home this season, we could have a genuine third WFB option on our hands at a heavy discount.
Adam Reynolds
Up next; we cast our eyes to Rabbitohs playmaker, Adam Reynolds.
Reynolds has landed himself on our watchlist after an injury-affected NRL Fantasy score in Round 12 of (-2).
This performance saw Reynolds enter Round 13 with an inflated break even, and drop nearly $70k in value despite top-scoring for this side with 63 NRL Fantasy points.
Reynolds is now available at nearly $100k cheaper than his starting price, and he firms as a handy pick-up this week (or next) for those searching for value to complete their scoring 17.
Whilst Reynolds has played every game this year and missed just two in 2019, the Kensington United junior often looks to be playing through niggling injuries – and this remains the main danger for prospective owners.
With that said, when you remove his injury affected score in Round 12; the ex-Blues playmaker boasts a 5-game average of just shy of 61 points – and he wouldn’t look out of place in any team for the run home as a result.
Before we move onto the next player in this list, don’t forget to drop a like on this video and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already.
Ryan Matterson
Matterson is set to dramatically decrease in price over the next couple of games with a break even of 100 ahead of Round 14, and like Reynolds – he too could offer up exceptional value down the line given his early-season form.
Prior to failing to return from a HIA and scoring 5 NRL Fantasy points in Round 11, Matterson had been averaging 65 points a game – and sitting comfortably within top 5 assets available in the position.
The danger for prospective owners comes via the nature of his injury, and the fact that he has missed extended runs of games in the past to deal with this same issue.
Despite this injury risk, the Wentworthville Magpies junior will be hard to pass up at a heavy discount if he is able to bounce straight back to form – particularly as his ownership has almost halved since Round 11.
One to watch with a view to pick-up in Round 15 or 16.
Starford Toa
We’ll now wrap-up this episode with WFB cheapie, Starford Toa.
Toa overcame wrist and ankle surgeries to make his debut late last year, but it was during the NRL Nines where we got a glimpse into his attacking potential – with his speed and tackle breaking ability on display throughout the tournament.
Toa cracked the starting side at the expense of Tautau Moga in Round 12 – and certainly didn’t disappoint in his first opportunity in 2020.
The 21-year old helped his side to a heavy defeat of the Wests Tigers with a try, over 100 run metres and 3 tackle busts – culminating for 41 NRL Fantasy points.
At $251k and with a break even of 2, Toa firms as a great cash out option this week to provide vital cover from your emergency.
