Is Kurt Capewell a buy in the Centres?

Potentially.

Ideally, you give it a week to get confirmation on what the rotation looks like now that key signing, Kurt Capewell has joined the pack.

Given Yeo’s start, it wouldn’t surprise us to see Capewell be the man replaced by Martin at some stage during the game. This interchange would likely take place via Yeo shifting back out to an edge to accommodate Martin in the middle.

With a break even of 30 and a history of negative stats accumulated in the missed tackle column, we’ve got Capewell as a wait and see.

What to do with David Fifita?

The latest news on the injury front has David Fifita estimated to return in 5-6 weeks.

Given his price point (754k), we’ve got Fifita as a definite sell ahead of Round 3.

In terms of replacements, a popular move for Fantasy coaches will be downgrading to the likes of Harry Grant or Jamal Fogerty in order to generate cash.

Alternatively, Fifita’s price does give coaches the luxury of moving him on in one trade for a more established option such as in the in-form, Alex Twal at the West Tigers.

Will Twal’s positional switch impact on his NRL Fantasy scores?

Whilst Twal has been named in the 13 for the Tigers this weekend, we expect his role (and NRL Fantasy output) to be very similar to what we’ve seen over the opening Rounds.

The evolution of the Lock position has seen it almost become like a third FRF option for a number of teams, and we’re tipping that this is what we’ll see come Saturday afternoon in their clash against the Sharks.

In much bigger news for Twal’s NRL Fantasy stocks, Madge has opted for Billy Walters on the bench and moved away from his typical 4-forward formation we’ve become accustomed to seeing on the team sheet – eliminating one of the major concerns for prospective owners this week.

Check out the video below for our full analysis on the pros and cons of bringing in the Tigers workhorse this week.

Who should I captain this week – Taumalolo or Haas?

The short answer is there likely won’t be a lot between these two premium assets this week, and they both look like great options for your team.

When you consider Taumalolo’s opposition and his run metres against the Bulldogs in Round 2 (345m), you’d be forgiven for considering moving away from the “set-and-forget” option of Haas; even at this early stage.

And whilst we have no doubt that he’ll be more than a handful for the Titans, there’s always that chance his minutes are managed if the Cowboys are able get out to a comfortable lead.

I’ll be sticking with Haas, but if you think the Titans will go with Cowboys long enough to keep Taumalolo on the field, and he won’t be sat back watching Holmes slot conversions – there could be some serious run metres on offer.

Is Jamaal Fogarty a good option this week?

At bargain basement price ($228k), the new-look Titans spine featuring Jamaal Fogerty has caught the attention of a number of coaches – especially after a stunning 113 point performance in Round 1 for the Burleigh Bears!

A review of Fogerty’s Queensland Cup highlights show a really strong short kicking game with a few nice try assists off the boot last year.

As a result, we can see him getting boot to ball in good field position and having the potential to lay on a try a two; but we’re not so confident he’ll get all those big clearing kicks we need for that consistent base that we see with the elite HLF options.

Fogarty also showed a strong running game in the Q Cup, so whilst he’ll likely take a back seat to Taylor with the playmaking; he looks to have the tools to break a tackle or two, and the potential to be a slow burn for Fantasy coaches – much like Luai.

Coaches could certainly benefit from waiting a week or two given the clear risk surrounding his job security and potential lack of base.

However, at his price point; scores of around 30 points a game is all we’ll need for some handy cash rises as he firms as a potential downgrade option for coaches looking for a short-term HLF to cover Cleary.

Is Billy Walters a sell this week?

Walters minutes are now unknown due to his relegation to the interchange in order to accommodate new recruit, Harry Grant.

This signing undoubtedly has led to an immediate crash for Walter’s NRL Fantasy stocks, but he enters Round 3 with a (-1) break even and looks set for at least one more generous price rise.

If you have the ability to do so; he’s a hold for one more week.

However, if you do need the cash from him right now to make a key signing for your side – there is nothing wrong with going early on this one; particularly now we’re in a shortened season.

What should I do with Jack Williams and Liam Knight?

Williams and Knight have both been two of the more disappointing mid-range options to start the year.

Unfortunately for Williams owners, an influx of negative stats have been the catalyst for his sub-par scores; with (-24) in just two weeks.

However, Team Lists were friendly for Williams with the noticeable omission of Billy Magoulias from the interchange. Combine this with an achievable break even of 40, and we’ll be giving him another chance in the Outta Their League team.

Similarly, Knight is also not an urgent sell.

Whilst his work his been tidy and we don’t see the negative scores on his stat sheet that we have on Williams’, it’s been the minutes that have let us down.

Many coaches starting with Knight would have been hoping for around 15 minutes more on last year- however, the realty is that his minutes have been much the same.

If you have other issues in your squad to amend first, there doesn’t look to be any harm in holding for this week. However, we can certainly see the sense of cashing him out for Harry Grant or another cheapie likely to generate cash at a more rapid rate.
