Storm

What a way to kick-off Round 10!

….and you’d better learn to pronounce his name, as we get the feeling that Ryan Papenhuyzen is a player we’ll be talking about for some time.

In an electric performance, the young Fullback managed 71 Fantasy points derived from 1 sensational solo try, 247 run metres and 7 tackle busts.
However, as some of us feared, Hughes slots straight back to Fullback this week and Papenhuyzen’s brief stint in the starting 13 has come to an end.

Outside of this scintillating performance, there weren’t too many other standouts for the Storm. Smith (43) & Munster (45) both had rare low scores for their standards, but both Kenny Bromwich and Finucane managed to just push their scores beyond 50 again and continue their great run of form.

Tigers

Farah (56) owners would have been reassured with an 80-minute performance. Priced now at $729,000, he could be a value pick-up, as it looks like he will only be getting a rest in the odd game where the Tigers have it wrapped up early. Last week he shared the role with Liddle and still managed a solid 54 points in 62 minutes.

Brooks (56) continues to show that he could be a POD halfback option to partner a premium like Pearce, Cleary or Reynolds. Continual scores could elevate Brooks to a premium bracket by the end of the season.

Matterson scored his lowest score in a few rounds with 48 but has done enough so far in 2019 to position himself as a season-long keeper. If he manages to jag a spot in the Blues side this year, he could be a trade for the likes of Taumalolo or Taupau.

Marsters (41) remains a premium CTR option along with Latrell Mitchell if you need a gun to replace Bateman.

Panthers (10) v. Warriors (30)

Panthers

Just when you thought that things couldn’t get any worse for the Panthers, they dish up arguably their worst game of the year in both actual NRL and in Fantasy.

Only one player scored more than 45 points (Tamou 51), which tells you all you need to know about how the Panthers are traveling.

Kikau score a try and still only mustered 42 points. His price has dramatically dropped ($579,000) since returning from injury due to a 41 point season average. Once he gets a few solid scores under his belt, he is someone who could be picked up with a significant discount. One to monitor.

Cleary (45) is still managing respectable scores from a well-beaten team. Considering the Panthers are the current cellar dwellers with just the 2 wins, an average of 49.9 is pretty impressive from the primo playmaker.

Liam Martin ,who started at lock, scored a modest 31 points in 43 minutes. Coaches who traded him in last week would be disappointed with the minutes Martin received, but will be even more concerned after he was named on the bench this weekend.

Warriors

How good is Roger Tuivasa-Sheck?

RTS hit a massive 59 NRL Fantasy points after running for 153 metres and busting 7 would-be tackles. He wouldn’t look out of place in anyone’s final 17.

We tipped Burr (43) as a sell this week and he fell short of his break even in this game. If you held onto him, look to move him on as a priority before he begins to leak any more cash in light of his BE of 47.

Those that jumped on Herbert despite the lack of Round 12 availability will be feeling great about that move after a career high 60 points. He certainly had Waqa Blake’s measure in this one and terrorized the right edge all game.

The goal kicking is a real bonus for Herbert given that the Warriors have now strung two wins together and look to be finding a groove. With more early ball and opportunities to add the extras, expect Herbert’s price to soar past the benchmark set by the CTW cheapie prospects that have come before him.

Broncos (15) v. Roosters (10)

Broncos

The Broncos made it back-to-back wins with a solid performance against the Roosters in front of their fans at Suncorp.

The halves had a quiet game with Deaden scoring a disappointing 20 points, while Milford only managed 36. Dearden looks to be a slower burn cash cow than the likes of Young, Haas and others, however with a break even of 8 and solid job security, I wouldn’t be too concerned by this one low score.

What more can we say about Haas? He has honestly been nothing short of amazing. With a 64-point average while tripling his value, he has been the cash cow of the season! We are already calling it after round 10. Owned by 39.3%, the other 60.7% coaches need to get him in now!

As expected, Segeyaro (31) was named on the interchange and was eased in the hooker position with 28 minutes. Turpin (34) owners may be concerned about Seibolds plans over the coming rounds while McCullough is out, however his form certainly warranted the lion’s share of the minutes at this stage and there is plenty more money to be made.

Roosters

Angus Crichton (69) was the standout for the Roosters in this one and looked to be a big beneficiary of the omission of Cordner.

Whilst the ball has primarily be going down that left channel for the Roosters in 2019, they looked to get Angus plenty of early ball in this one and he certainly made the most of it with a trademark tackle-busting performance.

Head to head players will be taking a look at him this week as he is still available $100k cheaper than his starting price.

Another one that should be on your radar if you’re a a non-owner is James Tedesco. An early try and an overall solid performance seen him jag another mid 50’s score and he remains every bit a must-have this year.

Latrell Mitchell has been incredible of late, but he failed to work his way into this game and managed just 32 points.

Taukeiaho had a single digit score in this one due to an injury in the early stages that seen him sidelined for the remainder of play. However, in encouraging news, he has been named to start this week and remains a hold for those that picked him up over the last fortnight.

Titans (16) v. Bulldogs (22)

Titans

The Titans imploded after dominating the opening 20 minutes and being 16-0 up against a rave Bulldogs outfit.

Rein (57) continues to be a hold until Peats returns, whereas Cartwright is only a hold until round 12. After the bye round, Cartwright will become a trade-out option unless his form improves significantly over the next two games.

As we stated in last week’s podcast, Brimson boasts an impressive NRL Fantasy career average in the fullback position, however it didn’t go to plan this week with a modest 32 points.

Arrow continues his impressive Fantasy workload with a solid 53 points and the man is simply made for NRL Fantasy!

Bulldogs

They nearly gave me a heart attack in the closing stages, but they got it done and come away with the ‘W’ for just the third time this year.

If you resisted the temptation to sell Okunbor, you would’ve been feeling pretty good about that decision after a barnstorming performance seen him come away with another 50+ score. This looked set to see Okunbor’s prices start ticking along again and owners would’ve hoped he could produce something similar when the Dogs take on the Raiders in Round 12.

Unfortunately, Okunbor has picked up a foot injury that will see him miss 4-6 weeks and he is now a sell. Back to the Round 12 drawing board!

We mention him every week, but Aiden Tolman (64) is positioning himself as a prime target for next week to line up alongside Lolo, Rein, Mahoney and Reynolds (potentially) as the premium Round 12 picks.

Another one I’ve been watching very closely is young Jack Cogger. He’s got the nod over Lewis at the moment and he come away with another great score off the back of a try and nearly 400 kick metres. At a tick over $500k, he could be a nice little POD in Round 12 and could surpass $100k in price rises should he keep up his current form.

Finally, as much as it hurts to say, Rhyse Martin is a certain sell after getting just 17 minutes from the bench.

Cowboys (17) v. Eels (10)

Cowboys

A win was all the Cowboys needed, and they got it done in front of their home fans.

Kahu’s (25) scores haven’t changed since his positional change back to FB, and remains a trade-out option if you’re still one of the 25.9% owners. Morgan (45) also remains a trade given he is a good 10 points per game away from being a final 17 keeper.

Scott turned back the clock with 72 points in a 40-minute display, whereas Hess scored 39 points after getting the full 80 again. Hess is arguably one of the most disappointing forwards this season with a 35.6 average and a resulting $215,000 decrease in value.

Taumalolo remains the only buy for the Cowboys at the moment (if you haven’t already got him in your squad) with a monstrous 76 points which included; 233 running metres, 19 hit-ups and 3 tackle breaks in a stellar 80-minute performance.

Eels

Reed Mahoney owners would have been delighted to see the young dummy half back playing the full 80 minutes and getting back to pumping out scores in the 50s.

Currently at 13% ownership, I’d expect this number to climb next week as coaches are looking for reliable scorers in that first bye round.

Another Fantasy relevant player from the Eels that managed a decent score in a losing team was Mitchell Moses. We’ve said this a few times, but he is absolutely relishing the opportunity to own this football team.

Moses has now made around $120k on his starting price and has maintained a keeper-like average above 50 points a game. I’ve been burnt too many times in the past, but well done to those that started with him.

Raiders (12) v. Rabbitohs (16)

Raiders

Another close loss for Ricky’s Raiders, but I think he’d have to be happy with the effort given the high profile injuries to their squad.

Hudson Young (42) had plenty of NRL Fantasy coaches watching his every move and after a slow start the game, the popular cheapie managed to get past 40 with some late tackle busts and secure another $60k in price rises.

Joe Tapine is named on the bench this week and threatens Young’s game time, so watch this space.

Cotric was somewhat relevant last year but he has failed to click into gear in 2019. However, in a potential Origin audition playing at right Centre he racked up 55 points without a try in his best performance of the year.

Nicoll-Klolstad (35) had a quiet game, but remains a hold indefinitely and Papalii proved a handful for the South Sydney defense and managed 53 points in 52 minutes. With a three-round average of 54.7, Papalii looks to be warming into the season nicely and could be a handy pick up post origin.

Rabbitohs

There is no stopping Cody Walker (56) at the moment with another 50+ point performance. With another try, a try assist and 4 tackle breaks he now boasts a 3-game average of 54.3. Has he done enough to earn a Blues call-up?

Reynolds (44) had his most disappointing Fantasy game in a while, whereas Murray (56) continues to be an ever-reliable option along with Cook this year.

Allan’s (23) first game in his preferred fullback position was very underwhelming with 80 running metres and only 1 tackle break. With a break even of 21 he remains one to avoid for non-owners, unless there is a significant turn in form. this week.

Sam Burgess continues his poor Fantasy form and remains a sell option as he has haemorrhaged cash over the past couple of rounds (due to a 3 game average of 38).

Dragons (12) v. Knights (45)

Dragons

A worrying Dragons performance saw them well beaten by the resurging Knights.

Dual position cheapie Lomax (23) continues to underwhelm in the CTR position even with a try to his name. It will be interesting to see how he performs this weekend after being named fullback where his scores could skyrocket. While Hunt (59) remains one of the most consistent Dragons NRL Fantasy performers this year second only to McInnes (58).

Lawrie (38) has now become a trade-out option with his break even leveling with his season average. Overall, Lawrie has been a very sold Fantasy buy for those who have kept him while reaping his $297,000 in price rises.

With Mary making wholesale changes this weekend, the only player I would be considering to trade-in at this stage is McInnes.

Knights

Kalyn Ponga and Mitchell Pearce, take a bow!

Let’s start with the electric number 1. Ponga put together one of the best 40 minutes of football I’ve seen so far this year and was untouchable at stages throughout this game. He come away with 81 NRL Fantasy points with two tries, 9 tackle busts and over 100 run metres. Set-and-forget.

His partner in crime in the 7 led the Knights around beautifully in this game and come away with 68 points of this own. With a try, two try assists and over 400 kick metres, Pearce has hit a purple patch of form after a quiet start to the year. This score takes his 3 Round average to 66 and he also looks a genuine keeper for your final 17.

David Klemmer had a quiet game by his standards with 35 points in 55 minutes and Kurt Mann was great in his start at five-eighth (55). Whilst Klemmer remains a hold, I wouldn’t be rushing to get Mann in any time soon.

Sharks (14) v. Sea Eagles (24)

Sharks

After a lot of uncertainly throughout the week, Fifita laced up the boots and put out one of the best scores of the Round to the tune of 70 points.

All doubts as to the troublesome hamstring will surely now be put to rest and those who own him can confidently select him this week.

Both halves were solid in a losing outfit and Flanagan’s 47 has seen his price rise another $54k. With no sign of Shaun Johnson as yet, lock him in for at least once more price rise.

Nikora hit the mid-forties mark again and Gallen’s scores came crashing back down to the mean after resuming his regular minutes.

In what has become a bit of a pattern, Bronson Xerri again put the pull down in open space and the chance at a big score went begging. Nonetheless, the young CTW did enough to hit the mid thirties mark and remains a hold with a BE of 28.

Sea Eagles

The returning Walker showed no signs of rust with 47 points on his return to the NRL. Many are looking at Walker this week due to his first-up performance and Round 12 coverage, however he hasn’t been overly Fantasy relevant in the past.

Garrick (22) is only a hold until round 12 and then will become a trade-out option, much the same as Bryce Cartwright at the Titans.

Waddell had a solid PPM display again with 29 points in 28 minutes. However, with a break even of 37, he also becomes a trade-out option from Round 13.

Obviously Des still doesn’t listen to our podcast with yet another sub 50 minute performance from Taupau (47), while Jurbo (46) had a quiet game for his high standards.
